THe cascade, she is here.

So this color is really a much lighter heathery shade than appears on my computer screen.

This scan also illustrates one of my favorite stash tricks. After I knit a gauge swatch, I scan it with  tape measure and the label as I did here. I should also add a sticky note with the needle size on it. Then I file this scan and I have an easy record of the yarn and gauge.

I am probably going to felt this swatch, so the scan becomes really helpful in determining the amount of shrinkage and then I can make my calculations based on that.

New Standard from Cascade!

Squeeeee! I just discovered Cascade 220 sport weight at Webs! It's only $3.75 a skein; the same fiber as 220, but in sport weight. Yahoo! Can't wait to try it for stranded colorwork etc.

All But the Buttons

I finished it up this afternoon--except for the buttons. I had to rip the hood out and do it over last night. Other than that It went together just fine. I didn't write down what I did, though--sorry.

I will try to get buttons tomorrow and pop it in the mail Monday.

Start of Jude's tiny hoodie
I met the cutest baby yesterday and was inspired to knit up something for him. This will be a little cardigan / jacket with a hood. The yarn is Cascade Luna Handpaint 100 percent cotton. I'm using size 6 for a firmer fabric than the suggested size 8 needles.

My goal is to finish it tonight so he can wear it next week.

Cast on 80 stitches. Place markers after 20 and 60 (20 sts each for fronts, 40 for back)

Work one inch  (or more if you prefer) in seed stitch. Switch to stockinette stich and work even until piece measures 6 inches from cast on edge.  (You can make this longer or shorter as you wish)

Fronts and back: Working on just the first 20 stitches, work even in stockinette stitch until 3 1/2 from division. Shape the shoulder over the next three rows and places these stitches (which will become the shoulder seam) on a holder.

Work the other 20 stitches of the other front and shoulder to match, mirroring the shoulder decreases.

That's as far as I've progressed since last night.
